About Bar Stools – All the Possibilities of Bar Stools

without comments

Bar stools aren’t only for bars. Although various commercial establishments have them, including restaurants and pubs, home kitchens and eating areas can be designed with them in mind, as well. But purchasing them is like any other piece of furniture, in which various styles, options, and materials are available. If you’re looking for more of a rustic style, wood stools might be a better fit, while modern and contemporary décor might benefit from metal ones. The materials don’t determine the style, however, and, as a result, bar stools are designed often with certain décor in mind, as bars and eateries range in style, as well, from dark, old-fashioned Irish pubs to bistros with counter eating to retro-style diners.

The two common materials used are wood and metal. For wooden bar stools, this often means a fully wood body with a cloth or vinyl seat, although some may be hard seats. Metal offer the same type of options, with metal options including dark colored metal and brushed steel, or chrome, style metal frames. If you can’t decide between the two for your business, some combine wood and metal materials for a modern look. Out of these materials, you can choose from retro, contemporary, and rustic looking styles.

Another question that arises when thinking about bar stools is how high will the counter be? The height of the counter or table can determine what type you’ll need to purchase. Standard bar stools are thirty inches high, and this is the distance from the floor to the seat. If the counter is higher than average, you may need taller ones, also referred to as spectator stools, which are 34 inches tall. For pubs, the tables are taller but not close to standard height, so the stools used are somewhat smaller. These are called counter stools and range from 24 to 26 inches tall. Another option is adjustable height bar stools, and for these the height ranges from slightly less than standard height to almost spectator height.

Another aspect to consider is the style of bar stool you want. Do you want a stationary design that looks much like a taller chair or do you want a traditional swivel bar stool? At most commercial and home bar stools and furniture retailers, these options are available for your restaurant or your home eating area.
